It seems that we have an old mini-game of the 64 days of Mario Party. And this time, Nintendo does not take any risk with this particular source of problems. This particular mini-game, Tug o War, did the national news the day before there were hotfixes and online tutorials showing how brutal it was. Not with the difficulty of playing, even if it was certainly filled with tension. This mini-game was known to cause friction burns, bulbs, perforations and cuts for children playing in the day. There was even a relationship from a child who had been friction burn after fifteen to twenty minutes of play. Many parents complained, and Nintendo responded with all things, withdrawn finger gloves with proof purchase, and provided compensation to the Office of the Attorney General who had investigated the claims at the time. In addition, Nintendo has also assured that there was a new message on his hotline on Mario Party so that players are warned about the appropriate use of this particular game. Nintendo did everything he could at the time, and that s perhaps the reason why Tug O War was not part of the Mario Party mini-game range.
All the problems come from the fact that the players were known to use their palms in order to quickly move the grooved joystick, not their thumb and forefinger. It seems to be a common sense, and without a doubt, it has been used for other mini-games, but with the mini-game Tug o War in particular, the speed was important. It was (and it s, in the current iteration) a mini-game against one where a fast movement between the player bearing the Bowser costume and the three normal players could make the difference between defeat and victory . No wonder players, including children, have tried to use their palms.
Nintendo does not take any risk this time. They clearly wrote on the preview of the mini-game not to use the palm during Tug o War, as well as the usual instructions on how to play. Does this guarantee players will not use the palm method? It s hard to say. But Nintendo warned players, and it may mean that there will be fewer problems than in the past. We will only know later.
